It doesn’t matter whether you are travelling home because your work has been cut short, or whether you just want to see your family so that you can be together during these very difficult times because you are probably wondering what life you are going to be returning to.

Which Countries are on Lockdown?

Countries across the globe are now implementing various measures to try and stop the coronavirus. This can include measures from school closures to travel bans and even quarantines. How does the Virus Affect Travel?

The lockdown has had a huge impact on travel all across the world. This includes cancelling flights, delaying holidays and more. Those who are travelling abroad have been told that they need to return to the UK as soon as possible or else they might not be able to get home. International travel is becoming very limited right now and a lot of this is because air routes are closing down and on top of this, land borders are closing too. If you are not able to return home then you may be able to stay in accommodation or even in a hotel room for 14 days. At this point you can then be tested for the virus. If it comes back positive then you may need to be hospitalised abroad. Different measures are being taken in countries all across the world. If you look at Thailand for example then travellers who are in a high-risk country do need to have a medical certificate saying that they have not been affected. They will then need to self-isolate. Singapore on the other hand have banned any kind of entry and transit as well.

Preparing for Lockdown

Stay at home, unless you are travelling essentially. If you need some support, then there are plenty of places all across the world who can help you with the situation. The main thing that you need to do is make sure that you are staying safe and that you also make the effort to try and stay with your loved ones. This may be a temporary experience but at the end of the day, people need to do everything they can to make sure that they are following the rule. As an expat, you need to abide by the rules in the country that you are in right now. Of course, if you are planning on becoming an expat, then you need to try and make sure that you take into account the global crisis right now and that you also do everything you can to avoid travelling when you can. This may mean delaying your travels but at the end of the day, it is worth it so you can get the support you need when the time comes for you to take that next step.
