News from Haunui
Kia Ora Koutou Katoa,
Haunui finally came out of the water yesterday 20th September at 11am, and is now sitting on the cradles outside the shed at Salthouse Boatbuilders in Greenhithe Auckland, with Murray and Hana-lee giving him a waterblast from top to bottom at this moment. Then onto the worklist and maintenance to bring him all back up to scratch again.
Kalei is out on the little yacht in the Hauraki gulf doing the practical with Duncan, along with Angelo, Tetaua, Fatiarau, Jah, and Raihania. The others are studying hard to be on top of the theory ready for their turn to do the practical in just over a week.
Okeanos is sitting inside the shed here having her revamp, Faafaite and and Hikianalia are on the wharf not far from us, Faafaite yet to have her masts put back on with new stays, with Moeata busy oiling the deck and woodwork, and Hikianalia looking very new and shiny, ready and rearing to go and put some serious sea miles under her belt. Te Matau is still sitting at Bayswater Marina patiently awaiting her turn to come up for some well earned care and attention.
It was really good to see so many at the launching of Hikianalia last weekend, and witness the signing over of those wakas that were officially handed over as well.
That’s about all the news from here at the moment. Miss you all and look forward to catching up again some time in the future. Hope everyone is well out there on the ocean or land, staying safe and looking out for each other. Arohanui to you all.
